We designed the interior for a multidisciplinary medical center that specializes in reproductive health and family planning and focuses on expert gynecology, ultrasound diagnostics, pregnancy management, pediatrics and cardiology. The clinic is located in the center of St. Petersburg, on the beloved Petrogradskaya side, in a quiet part of the island. Our clients chose a space with a free planning structure in a new residential complex on Malaya Raznochinnaya Street.
The owners asked us to design a light, partly Scandinavian interior in sophisticated pastel shades. From their point of view, it should be primarily understandable to the generation of patients, girls of twenty to thirty-five years old, but at the same time not repel those who are older.
We decided to approach the interior architecturally and build a volumetric-spatial composition based on the play of rhythms and individual volumes. We accentuated the visual axes with oak veneered wall panels. This is the main material of finishing, it adds warmth to spacious, light rooms, gives integrity to the interior and serves as an excellent background for furniture and decorative objects. In addition to them, we have introduced large-format porcelain stoneware with travertine texture, which is used for the floors and reception desk where the receptionists work.
Many pieces of furniture were designed in the studio, in particular the multifunctional sofa in the waiting area is literally “cut into” the wall panels. Not the least role in the interior is played by color. The range is formed by two contrasting accent shades: terracotta and complex fir green. They refer us to the nature of the northern Mediterranean, evoking feelings of tranquility and comfort.
Of course, the interior is based on a rational planning solution. More often in medical typology there is a corridor system, which here we managed to avoid. In fact, the waiting area and the transit, from which we get to the offices, represent a single volume. The rooms and their configuration are exactly in line with the current norms for the design of medical facilities
